Puligny-Montrachet lies on clay-limestone soils, stretching between Meursault to the north and Chassagne to the south, where the Leflaive family have been producing some of Burgundy's top wines for four generations and counting.

This particular expression is drawn from 25 lieux-dits across the appellation, including parcels on the Meursault side and in the heart of the village, just below Premiers Crus such as Clavoillon and Perrières. The vines sit between 230 and 350 meters altitude, with an average age of 40 years, and produce wines defined by tension, minerality, and precision.

16.5pts Julia Harding MW for Jancisrobinson.com: 'Twenty-four parcels and some bought-in fruit. Cask/tank sample. Smells deep and creamy with plenty of pristine citrus. Intense citrus on the palate, too, the high acidity just balanced by the creamy oak/lees. Terrific balance between pure citrus and the rounded texture. Extremely subtle oak, tight and mouth-watering. Needs time to meld.'
