Gaja’s Barbaresco is their flagship wine, crafted since 1859. In 2019, no single-vineyard bottlings were produced, meaning the fruit that would have typically gone into Sori San Lorenzo, Sori Tildin, and Costa Russi was instead blended into this exceptional vintage.
Tasted ahead of its release in September 2022, this vintage impresses with its depth and refinement. It delivers the signature Gaja intensity, featuring an expressive nose of red berries, minerals, roses, and black truffles. The palate is effortlessly smooth, with tannins that are both powerful and impeccably balanced.
Decant at least an hour before drinking. Serve at 16-18°C degrees in a wide bowled glass. Pair with rich tomato-based Italian pasta sauces, and aged cheeses like Pecorino or Parmigiano-Reggiano.
