Though just a stone's throw away from Rioja, Bodega Inurietta choose not to produce any Tempranillo. Instead, they've found that international varietals perform brilliantly here in Navarra, particularly with the cooling influence of the Atlantic being in the region's north.
This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot has lovely aromas of mint and cassis, with ripe fruit and soft tannins on the palate. There's a touch of oak, perfectly integrated, which lends structure and adds a subtle spice to the finish. Yet this is still very much an elegant style of wine with lovely acidity throughout.
A great value alternative to a left-bank Bordeaux that would pair very well with roasted meats, game, grilled vegetables, and mature cheeses. Drink now, or give it another few years.
