Gary Pisoni and his sons are triply blessed: with one of California’s great vineyard sites, with an obsessive attention to detail, and with the good taste to know when to leave well alone and let the grapes do the talking.
A blend of 70% Pisoni Vineyard, 14% Garys’ Vineyard and 16% Soberanes Vineyard, combining mountain-grown concentration with the spice and lift of the lower Santa Lucia Highlands sites. The grapes are fermented with 100% native yeasts and 15% whole clusters, then aged for 11 months in a combination of new and old french oak. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Crushed strawberry, spiced plum, dark berry, Asian spice, black tea and subtle vanilla build toward plush red fruit and layered, approachable tannins.
