Château Cantemerle is situated in the stunningly beautiful far south of the region, on the outskirts of the city of Bordeaux. A Fifth Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification (although technically it was missed off and officially added in 1856, a rare amendment to the legendary map). The wine has rich plum and dark damson fruit, a hint of cocoa and cinnamon on the palate, with real elegance and restrained power. Perfect with classic roast beef, game, lamb roasts, stews, or firm cheeses.
'A red with lots of currant, blackberry, fresh-herb and tobacco character. Hint of mushroom, too. It’s full and layered with polished, chewy tannins and a bright and fresh finish. Very long and focused. Give it time to come together. Very classic character here. Best after 2026.' 95pts, James Suckling (2021)
