Domaines Ott estate was founded in 1896 and is today run by fourth-generation cousins Christian and Jean-Francois Ott. Clos Mireille, located near the Mediterranean in La Londe, benefits from a maritime climate and schist-rich soils.
A particularly luscious rosé, which is a reflection of its coastal terroir. Facing the Mediterranean Sea, the vineyards bask in sea spray, while the dry air in the hills and the abundant sunshine, combined with the limestone-free saline soil, creates an utterly elegant wine.
Grenache, Cinsault and a tiny amount of Rolle combine to create a wine with a golden, sandy hue, sometimes flecked with coppery tints. Fresh and intense, the first sip is invigorating on the palate, where it reveals notes of zest and lovely crisp fruit over a mineral (all that sea spray) backbone. The subtly persistent and slightly spicy finish adds freshness and a certain savouriness.
Pair with grilled langoustines, fresh burrata with heirloom tomatoes, or simply on its own over a summer evening.
