Maal wines was founded in 2010 by friends Alfredo Merlo and Matias Fraga. Based in Mendoza's Uco Valley, the project began with small-scale Malbec production from an old vineyard in Vistaflores. Today, they remain very much hands-on in their winemaking approach.
Biutiful is a minimal intervention Malbec made without the use of oak. Fermented in cement vats, the focus is on expression of terroir while preserving the natural flavours of the fruit. The result is a wine with intense blackcurrant and hints of mocha, with good freshness and concentration on the palate. The tannins are smooth and well-integrated, followed by a lengthy finish.
