The Guigal Domaine was founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in the ancient village of Ampuis, home to the wines of the Côte-Rôtie. These vineyards are over 2,400 years old, and the small terraced walls - characteristic of the Roman period - are still visible today.
The Côte-Rôtie "La Mouline" is one of the most emblematic of the Guigal domain's wines. Small quantities are produced each year from a vineyard in the heart of the Côte Blonde. This is a voluptuous, silky and intensely aromatic wine.
"Cask sample. Expressive, floral nose – rose hip, violet, perfume and liquorice. A tightly wound, but lovely, palate. Seamless tannins, which are so delicate and pretty. A creamy and savoury palate with toasty notes beneath. Saline note on the finish. A delicate, refined and elegant La Mouline." 18/20, Alistair Cooper MW, jancisrobinson.com, Oct 2022
"Leading the three wines from unique vineyards, the 2021 Côte Rôtie La Mouline has a deeper ruby/purple color and Burgundian aromas of black raspberry, graphite, camphor, and flowers. It is medium- to full-bodied, with a pure and incredibly elegant palate, beautiful tannins, and a lovely finish" 95/100 Jeb Dunnuck, 2024
