Chasselas

75cl * 12% ABV * Switzerland

From the hillsides of Lake Geneva, this is a true expression of Switzerland's signature grape. The grapes are sourced from the Grand Cru AOC of Mont-Sur-Rolle, where the microclimate and rich soils create the perfect growing conditions.

The name Maison Blanche ('The White House') comes not from the powdery snowy surrounds, but rather salt. The house was originally a fortress storing salt for the army garrison of Louis of Savoy. It was then 'acquired' by Jean de Mestral (the battalion commander) in 1528, and the family have been producing wine there ever since.

This is a simply superb example of Chasselas that sings with the typical notes of the variety: chamomile, citric and honeysuckle on the nose with a creamy and rounded but fresh palate with fresh orchard fruits that shows crisp mineral/saline notes on the finish. Definitely a Swiss wine for Burgundy lovers.

Serve slightly above fridge temperature (11C-12C) ideally with fondue! But if you want to go more 'foodie', with langoustines or fennel velouté. Drink now to 2028.
