Sangiovese (75%), Cabernet Sauvignon (25%)
6 x 75cl * 13.5% ABV * Tuscany, Italy
Tenuta San Guido is located on the Tyrrhenian coast in Maremma, Bolgheri. The estate is primarily known for Sassicaia, the wine that started the super-Tuscan movement. Le Difese is perhaps more approachable, with a blend led by the bright fruit of Sangiovese sourced from Montespertoli and Chianti Rufina.
The 2024 vintage is aromatic and lively, with red cherries and violets on the nose. On the palate, it is juicy and fresh. Judicious use of French oak barriques adds complexity without overshadowing the fruit. The finish is clean, savoury and slightly herbaceous.
'A soft and youthful wine that also includes selected lots from Sassicaia and Guidalberto. Its approachable style and delicate structure make it extremely enjoyable even in the early months of bottle aging' Caro Paoli, Head of Winemaking at Tenuta San Guido
Most definitely a food wine, best paired with pasta dishes, grilled meats, tomato-based sauces, and antipasti. Drinking from now to 2035.
Please note that prices are in-bond and exclude VAT and Duty, which are payable when the wines land in Summer 2026.
