Sangiovese, Colorino
75cl * 13.5% ABV * Chianti Classico DOCG, Tuscany, Italy
A fresh, floral expression of Chianti Classico from Castellina, with cherries and violets supported by a subtle touch of oak that adds weight and complexity, but without taking away from the purity of the fruit.
The vineyard sits at around 250m above sea level, where low-yielding vines deliver concentrated, well-balanced fruit. The 2022 vintage was aged for nine months in barriques. On the palate, there's black cherry and plum, carried by a lively acidity and elegant tannins. Perfect for pasta with meat sauces, lasagne, grilled meats and aged cheeses.
91 points James Suckling: 'A fruity, succulent and well-balanced Chianti Classico showing aromas of sour cherries, warm herbs, currents and some peppercorns. Medium-bodied with fine tannins and fresh acidity. Bright and refreshing with a crunchy finish.'
90 points Jeb Dunnuck: 'The 2022 Chianti Classico Primocolle is fruity and primary with aromas of baked strawberries, herbes de provence, and candied flowers. While the nose suggests an almost Grenache-like ease, the palate is snappy and bright, with the zesty acidity and angular structure that can be nothing other than Sangiovese.'
