Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot
75cl 13.5% ABV Saint-Estephe, Bordeaux, France
Made at the same vineyard as the well-known Chateau Montrose, this second wine of the estate is produced to the same rigorous standard. Vines were first planted in 1815, along the bans of the Gironde river, which not only provides wonderful alluvian soils but also microclimates of frost protection and perfect sun exposure. The most sublime match for rare roast beef and all the trimmings.
This glorious vintage in Bordeaux, alongside Montrose's expert vignerons, has created a wine with complex notes of ripe black fruit and toasty oak. Black cherry, plum, red fruit and tobacco hover around too. Silky tannins create a lovely finish.
