Nebbiolo
75cl * 14% ABV * Piedmont, Italy
This Barbaresco comes from one of the appellation’s most historic sites, located just below the village of Barbaresco near the Tanaro River. The loamy soils and natural amphitheatre of Secondine create a sheltered microclimate, allowing Nebbiolo to ripen whilst retaining freshness. Prunotto has worked here since the early 20th century, crafting wines that demonstrate the cru’s hallmark elegance.
The 2020 season saw a balanced progression from mild winter through to a warm, dry end of summer, with September’s cool nights preserving aromatic purity. Harvested on September 29th, the grapes were gently fermented and aged for twelve months in oak, followed by further bottle refinement.
This vintage is poised and perfumed, with bright red-berry character, violet and rose aromas, and a subtle savoury undercurrent from the vineyard’s mineral-rich soils. Silky, refined tannins frame the palate, already charming but with the structure to age gracefully over the coming decade.
