Graševina (also known as Welschriesling)
75cl*12.0%ABV*Slavonia, Croatia
Winemaker, Martin Kovačević and his wife, vineyard manager Lucija Kovačević met whilst studying viticulture and oenology at the University of Zagreb and purchased this historic estate (dating back to 1804) in 2018. The winery and vineyards are located in one of Croatia's key wine growing regions, Slavonia, where winemaking dates back to the 13th Century. Graševina accounts for about a third of vineyard plantings in the region.
This is a textured, grippy style with fresh peach, zingy citrus zest and aromatic floral character with a slightly nutty finish. With it's fresh acidity, this wine pairs well with creamy pasta dishes and seafood.
The label pays tribute to first Croatian female composer, Dora Pejačević who was not allowed to sign her name to her compositions, with the statement "This is graševina for bold women!"
