Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars’ Artemis Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 takes its name from the Greek goddess of the hunt, honouring the winery’s pursuit of the finest fruit from across Napa Valley. Sourced from a select range of sites – including Atlas Peak, St. Helena, Coombsville, Wooden Valley, and the Stags Leap District – the wine captures the valley’s breadth of character while maintaining the estate’s hallmark elegance. Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with small additions of Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Merlot, it was aged 15 months in French oak, a third of it new, to enhance complexity and texture.

The growing season brought dry conditions and lower yields, but also outstanding concentration, with smaller berries delivering exceptional flavour. Artemis opens with aromas of boysenberry, plum, currant, and chocolate layered with baking spice. The palate is plush yet structured, offering rich fruit framed by velvety tannins and a long, seamless finish.

A benchmark Napa Cabernet, Artemis is both generous and refined, pairing beautifully with grilled tri-tip, braised short ribs, or pasta with wild mushrooms and prosciutto.

'This supple but structured wine is sourced from various parts of the valley, yet still has the gentle power of the Stags Leap District. Suave oak spices, rich dark fruit and a full body give a generous, broad feel that is nicely freshened by fine-grained tannins.'
93pts, James Suckling
