Cont’Ugo 2023 is produced entirely with Merlot from Guado al Tasso in Bolgheri, a coastal Tuscan estate known for its sun-drenched plains and gently rolling hills, often referred to as the 'Bolgheri Amphitheatre.' The Merlot vines sit on clay-loam soils at 45–60 meters above sea level, where the combination of alluvial deposits, excellent drainage, and mineral-rich earth allows the grapes to develop remarkable depth and concentration. The vineyard’s location, with its gentle slopes and ideal sunlight exposure, ensures that each bunch achieves optimal ripeness, giving Cont’Ugo its characteristic richness, elegance, and complexity.
On the nose, there are ripe red berries, Mediterranean herbs, and subtle earthy undertones. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet refined, with velvety tannins, rich fruit, and a long, persistent finish. This Merlot pairs beautifully with grilled meats, hearty pasta dishes, or aged cheeses.
