Chardonnay, Fiano
75cl * Organic * 12.5% ABV * Castel del Monte DOC, Italy
Pietrabianca takes its name from the white stones that surface in the chalky soils of Bocca di Lupo, the Antinori family’s estate in the Murgia hills of Puglia. This terroir, combined with the estate’s organic farming, give the wine its distinctive expression.
The 2023 growing season yielded perfectly balanced fruit. A portion of the Chardonnay was fermented and aged in French oak barriques, adding texture and subtle spice, while the rest - together with the Fiano - remained in stainless steel to preserve clarity and freshness. The final blend brings a measured balance of richness and lift, before a short period of bottle ageing refines the wine further.
The nose opens with citrus and white orchard fruit, with notes of orange blossom, mint, and Mediterranean herbs, followed by a subtle hint of vanilla. On the palate, it is lively and layered, combining freshness and minerality with a gentle roundness from oak. A wine of character and precision, it can be enjoyed now, but equally will evolve over the next few years. Pair with seafood dishes like grilled turbot or scallops, vegetable-led dishes like a mushroom risotto, delicate poultry, and soft Italian cheeses.
