Roycello takes its name from a small plot on the Antinori family’s Masseria Maìme estate in Salento, once home to the Eurasian crane that migrated through the Cerano woods in the early 20th century. Today, that same land produces one of Puglia’s most characterful white wines, a pure expression of Fiano rooted in the coastal vineyards of San Pietro Vernotico.
The 2023 vintage was one of contrasts: a cool, rainy winter and spring followed by a hot, dry summer. Careful vineyard management ensured steady ripening, with the harvest beginning slightly later than usual in mid-September. After vinification, the wine spent several months on lees in stainless steel, enhancing depth and texture.
Aromas of ripe pear, white peach and citrus fruits are lifted by floral tones of jasmine and wild herbs. The palate is fresh and finely balanced, with a saline edge that speaks to its coastal origins. A perfect pairing for seafood like octopus or baked fish, fresh cheeses and light pasta dishes.
