Domaine Remoriquet dates back to the end of the 19th century and the property is now managed by 4th-generation Gilles Remoriquet, oenology graduate of the acclaimed University of Dijon. We're very much at home in 'traditional' Burgundy here - Gilles strongly believes in horse-ploughing, limiting yields, sorting ripe from unripe via flotation hand-harvesting and barrel maturation. But he's also an extensive traveller, visiting vinous colleagues around France to see what others are doing with regards to soil quality and the like. One recent trip saw him in Jura consulting with fellow vignerons and specialists on the perfect manure blend for his soil!
This a seriously made wine that will reward those who invest in it. A beautiful perfume and intense fruit flavours captivate the palate. On the one hand it is a shame that Remoriquet aren't better known in the UK but on the other, all the more for the people in the know. Truly a wonderful wine.
