Domaine Papagiannakos is a third-generation family estate, producing wines in Attica since 1919. Today, the winery continues to work primarily with indigenous varieties.
This wine, for example, is made from 100% Assyrtiko, grown on 50-year old bush vines. The maritime influence on these coastal vineyards comes through in the distinctive saline quality of wine. The grapes are fermented and matured in stainless steel, resulting in a purity of fruit expression. There is also a roundness and subtle weight to the wine following a short period on fine lees.
On the nose, there are fresh aromas of citrus peel and white blossom. The palate is linear and mineral, with notes of lime and grapefruit. There is a herbal character and chalky texture that carries through to a long, saline finish. The acidity is lively and vibrant. Pair with fish and a salad.
