Chateau du Moulin-a-Vent has been making excellent wines in the heart of this Beaujolais appellation since 1732. This wine is a blend of the three best parcels from their property, with Thorins being the most famous climat of the appellation. The vines are around 50yrs old, set upon granite terroir. The Gamay fruit is hand harvested and vinified without the addition of sulphites, and the wine is then aged for 17 months - 85% in vats and 15% in barrels.
The result is a terroir-driven wine with exceptional freshness and purity. There is a slightly earthy aroma, with peppered strawberries and raspberries on the nose. The palate is fresh, precise and elegant, with fresh dark fruits and ripe red cherries followed by hints of mint and liquorice on the finish. This wine is ready to drink now. Enjoy it with grilled red meats, roast poultry and hard cheeses like Comté and Beaufort.
