Domaine Coffinet-Duvernay is a family-run estate in the appellation of Chassagne-Montrachet. Established in 1989 by Laura and Phillipe Duvernay, their son Bastien has since joined them in 2012.
The quality and purity of the wine is testament to the lower-intervention winemaking techniques, but also the excellent terroir; the Chardonnay comes from a plot just at the edge of the 'Criots-Batard' Grand Cru vineyard. The vines are 60-70yrs old on average, with low yields. The result is a generous, lively wine with good freshness.
It is floral on the nose, with ripe yellow fruits. There is power and acidity on the palate, with a hint of minerality on the finish. It is very drinkable now, but will also do well with cellaring for another 5-7 years.
This wine is the perfect pairing for frogs and snails! Otherwise, try it with fish and shellfish.
