Chardonnay
75cl * 13.0% ABV * Burgundy, France
Australian winemaker Mark Haisma left Yarra Yering in 2007 to make his way to Burgundy. When he first arrived, he had no vines of his own. First becoming a micro-agent, he had to gradually acquire plots over time before establishing his own winery. Today, he is successfully producing some excellent quality, low intervention, terroir-driven wines characterised by their subtlety, elegance and freshness.
The Saint Romain vineyards are higher in altitude, producing stoney, mineral chardonnay fruit. This wine is poised and complex - zesty lemon and grapefruit and perfumed flowers with hints of of vanilla. There is body and texture, with a good nuttiness followed by notes of ginger on the finish.
