Red port blend - Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barroca
50cl * 20% ABV * Douro Valley, Portugal
The history of Warre's port begins in 1670, when two Englishmen - William Burgoyne and John Jackson - started a trading company in the north of Portugal. The Warre's Wines company was officially established in 1870, and today they are still crafting wines across vineyards in the Douro.
The Otima Colheita is a Tawny Port - deep amber in colour, and deliciously creamy in texture. The grapes are hand-picked and the wine is aged in oak casks for at least 10 years before release. The nose is nutty, with aromas of dried fruits and sweet caramel and molasses. There are dates and figs on the palate, with orange peel and spice, followed by a hint of nutmeg and vanilla. It is rich and decadent, yet retains a freshness that reveals its balance.
Enjoy as an aperitif, or pair with desserts and cheeses.
