Richer than Chianti, yet providing better value than Brunello di Montalcino, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is one of Italy’s hidden treasures. This reveals a certain southern, sunny ripeness in its fresh berries and cream character - not dissimilar to Raspberry Ripple - that cannot fail to be attractive. Nevertheless, Sangiovese’s classic supporting combination of fresh acidity and tannin can also be felt. Pair with grilled meat and vegetables, cured meats, Italian cheeses, pizza, casseroles, risotto, and mild gamey dishes. Great for the ‘now’, this wine also has impressive ageing potential.
