Sangiovese
75cl * 14% ABV * Paso Robles, California, USA
For over a decade, Steph and Brian Terezzi have been applying Italian winemaking philosophies to their vineyards in California. First gaining experience in Tuscany, they decided to plant Italian varietals in Paso-Robles in 2006 - Brian taking on the role of winemaker, and Steph as viticulturist.
They describe their Sangiovese as a tribute to Brunello, with its purity of cherry fruit and spice. The grapes are grown organically in the Cresten Ridge vineyard, foot-stomped, and aged for 22 months in French barrels.
Though produced from new-world fruit, this wine is Italian in style; subtle, layered and refined, with good freshness and acidity. There is a hint of eucalyptus on the nose and an earthy bitterness on the palate that elevate its complexity. Pair with an aubergine parmigiana or most pasta dishes.
