The Southern Right winery is located in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, just 2km from the South Atlantic Ocean coast. Named after the rare Southern Right whale, the winery contributes a portion their proceeds to the conservation of these whales and their habitat.
Their Sauvignon Blanc strikes a perfect balance between Old World minerality and New World texture. The 2024 vintage shows great intricacy. With 46% of the fruit grown in iron and clay-rich soil and 28% from Granite soils, there is good structure and openness to the wine. This, combined with the bright, saline character of the fruit from the Sandstone soils of Table Mountain, result in a complex wine distinct from the typical varietal expression.
