Founded in 1981, Ornellaia is now one of the most iconic wineries in the world. Nestled in the foothills near Bolgheri, the estate lies just a few kilometres from the Mediterranean coast. During the summer months, cool sea breeze caress the vineyards and nearby olive groves, while during the winter the hills provide protection from the cold north winds.
This is a playful wine that is equally approachable as it is enjoyable. The 2023 Vintage saw hot summer temperatures, offset by spells of rain and cool September nights, leading to gradual ripening and great concentration of fruit whilst preserving the acidity of the wine.
The grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks, separated by variety to maintain integrity. The wine was aged for 10 months, partly in ex-Ornellaia barrels and partly in concrete tanks, striking the perfect balance between rounded tannic structure and the expression of fresh fruit. The wine opens with ripe black fruit aromas, and finds a perfect balance between breadth and freshness on the palate. Silky tannins and a persistent finish reveal the wine's quality and complexity.
