37.5cl * 13.5% ABV * Pouilly-Fumé, Loire, France
The largest and most esteemed of the Pouilly-Fume vineyards have been in the hands of the Comte Lafond and Ladoucette families for over 250 years. The Comte Lafond bought the chateau at Nozet and its surrounding vineyards and over the centuries down to the current owner and relation of the count, Baron Patrick de Ladoucette, the aim has been to produce the finest Pouilly-Fumé possible.
Only the grapes from the very best years and from the oldest vines, meaning more concentration, are used to produce the Baron de L wine. It is an icon of the Loire and of French wine more generally. It strikes a perfect balance between fruit and minerality. The wine never sees a wooden barrel ever, the intention being to never have anything in the winemaking process that can distract for the natural fruit and aromatic characteristics of the wine. It is a true expression of the very best that can be achieved in Pouilly-Fumé.
The wine has an aging potential of around 8-10 years and best served alongside high quality seafood, goats cheese or Asian cuisine.
