Gewurztraminer
75cl * 13.5% ABV * Alsace, France
Alsace is the source of many of the world's finest wines, but remains a chronically underrated wine region and thus offers immense value to drinkers and collectors. With its floral aroma, spicy flavour and rich texture, Gewurztraminer is one of the most characteristic varieties and reaches its finest expression in Alsace.
While the winemaking history of the Rolly and Gassmann families in Alsace can be traced back to the 17th century, Domaine Rolly Gassmann was not established until 1967 when the two families were joined by marriage. Now run by second-generation Pierre Gassmann, the domaine encompasses 50 hectares of vineyards, with 40 hectares in the village of Rorschwihr (where they are based) and 10 in the village of Bergheim.
Clear and bright with yellow hints. A very expressive Gewurztraminer, with notes of jasmine and exotic fruits, leading to a complex and rich palate, lifted by a fresh saline finish. The wine will be very much enjoyed alongside spicy Asian dishes and curries. also unctuous food like creamy and blue cheeses and pates.
