Château Cantemerle is situated in the stunningly beautiful far south of the region, on the outskirts of the city of Bordeaux. A Fifth Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification (although technically it was missed off and officially added in 1856, a rare amendment to the legendary map). 2023 is the first vintage produced in Cantermerle's new winery and vat room.

Taurus Wines sourced this wine from our negociant in Bordeaux. It has been kept in ideal cellar conditions and offers the perfect provenance.

Pair with classic roast beef, game, lamb roasts, stews, or firm cheeses. Decant and filter carefully to remove sediment and leave for 2-3 hours. Serve at 16-17 degrees.

Drinking window: 2028 - 2040

93-94/100 James Suckling "This shows focus and balance with a pretty dark-fruit character, as well as hints of blue flowers and stones. Medium-bodied, juicy and vivid with very polished tannins and fresh acidity. Nice center-palate with cabernet character coming through. Firm at the end."

87-89/100 Neal Martin "The 2023 Cantemerle has an attractive nose that offers more fruit concentration than its peers, raspberry and crushed strawberry, light peppery notes. The palate has good body on the entry, but it doesn't quite possess phenolic ripeness right on the finish. Could this be subsumed during the élevage? A third sample verified a nagging, albeit slight vegetal aspect but let's see how it will show once in bottle"

88-89/100 Wine Advocate "The 2023 Cantemerle offers up aromas of dark berries, cherries, mint and herbs, followed by a medium-bodied, round and fleshy palate that's a touch varietal in profile this year"

Please note prices are in-bond and exclude VAT and duty, which are payable when the wines land in-store which will be spring/ summer 2026.
