Malbec is usually celebrated as a modern Argentinian varietal, but Côt - as it’s known in France - has been grown in and around Cahors for centuries. Historically, the region suffered from its proximity to Bordeaux: if its wines weren’t anonymously blended with Claret, they were heavily taxed when they left the port. This is smooth and sumptuous with its meaty, herb-tinged aroma and hints of spicy oak.
The estate's old vines are carefully managed according to the principles of lutte raisonneé and the Burc family has obtained Terra Vitis certification for its sustainability work at Château Pineraie.
