The only winery in Spain with a master cubero and three of its own coopers, Muga makes sure their barrels receive the right interior toasting to get wines of unique character. This 2020 Rioja Reserva was fermented in the winery's iconic large oak vats, afterwards maturing for 24 months, one year in new oak and the second in used barrels.
The 2020 vintage has a bright ruby-red colour, with medium depth and a garnet-tinged rim. On the nose you discover an intense, complex, enticing wine that immediately draws you in. Aromas of wild fruits of the forest (especially blackberries and blueberries) come to the fore, with hints of woody spices. On the palate it is long, elegant, and nicely balanced
Perfect to be drunk now but thanks to its great balance and structure it can be kept in the bottle for several more years. Enjoy with ribeye steak, casseroles and all kinds of charcuterie, tapas and good after dinner conversation.
