The Tedeschi estate dates back to the 17th century and the family have been farming this corner of the Veneto since the 1630s. Since the 20th century, the family name has been associated with top quality Valpolicella in the heart of Valpolicella Classica. Tedeschi's mapping of the soils in the large Maternigo estate has enabled them to identify certain plots of land that, due to the characteristics of their terrain, their exposures and the results given by the vines, have revealed themselves to be real crus.

Deep ruby red, clear and bright with very pronounced fruit on the nose. Notes of redcurrants, cherries and plums that give freshness to the wine and meld with mineral, ethereal, spicy and vanilla-like hints. Rich, fresh and well-balanced on the palate, the concentration of dried fruit is notable and admirably set off by considerable tannic structure, very lively acidity and a level of alcohol that ensure good ageing potential. This is a long, fresh, concentrated and very elegant wine.

Serve at 16-18° C and pair with red meats, game, and mature cheeses.

"The Maternigo estate in the eastern part of Valpolicella consists of 34 hectares of vines, from which the steep Impervio vineyard's white and yellow marls produce the fruit for this Valpolicella Superiore at 300m asl, surrounded by woods. Undergoing a longer-than-typical 20-day maceration and ageing in large barrels, it's bursting with aromatic violets, spice, crushed rock, liquorice and chocolate. Blackcurrant and menthol flavour emerge in the mouth; soft, plush and soothing with a lovely medicinal quality, bright acidity, and a poised, balanced conclusion. Fewer than 13,000 bottles produced." 93 points, James Button, Decanter (Sep 2023)

"Deeply hued, this Valpolicella shows aromas of blackberries, ripe plums and macerated cherries with licorice, allspice and tobacco. The palate is rich and lush with a focus on the ripe black-hued fruit notes that are supported by wild herbs, fresh violets and white pepper, finishing with the acidity to keep it all together." 93 points, Jeff Porter, Wine Enthusiast Magazine

"Intense ruby red. On the nose notes of ripe cherries, sour cherries and plums, followed by notes of dark chocolate, liquorice and tobacco. On the palate it is soft and enveloping, juicy with a nice spicy vein and a savoury finish." 92 points, Othmar Kiem, Simon Staffler, Falstaff (Oct 2022)
