75cl * Vegan * 13.0% ABV * AOP Côtes-du-Roussillon, Languedoc, South of France

Whilst Chapoutier owns a large number of prestige sites and is best known as a négociant in the Rhône, the man of many hats Mr Michel Chapoutier, has turned his capable hand to the wines of Roussillon in Languedoc here at Domaine of Bila-Haut.

This southerly region of France offers warm Mediterranean hints of citrus oil, wild herbs, and salty minerality to this delightful blend of Grenache Blanc, Macabeu, Marsanne, and Roussanne. There is great acidity though and lots of aromatic freshness due to the fact that some of the vines grow in limestone, clay soils and gneiss at 500m in the Agly Valley. Grapes are harvested by hand early in the morning and are then vinified in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks to further enhance the aromatics. Richness and stone-fruit creaminess come from the dominant Grenache Blanc grape.

A recommended pairing for grilled sardines with fresh crusty bread however its versatility makes it a a refreshing aperitif and a great match for Asian cuisine, roast poultry, grilled fish and seafood, Niçoise salad, and picnic fare, particularly mild creamy cheeses.

Serving temperature: 10-12°C. Made for drinking young to appreciate its freshness.
