Chardonnay
75cl * 13.0% ABV * Burgundy, France
One of Meursault's finest growers, Domaine Patrick Javillier was established in 1990 and covers 11 hectares, 50% of which is white. The 'Cuvée des Forgets' remains some of the best value Burgundy's you can find anywhere. These days the domaine is run by Marion Javillier and her winemaker brother-in-law, Pierre-Emmanuel Lamy.
Sourced from grapes located on the southern side of the Côte de Beaune, mainly on clay soils, the Forgets spends 10 months in barrels. Bright and fresh with scents of green apples and white peaches, silky stone fruits and a hint of apricot on the palate are underscored by fresh acidity. Very appealing and great value.
Before the meal as an aperitif or with fish, shellfish etc. as well as certain cheeses such as Brie or Mont d'or. Serve at 11 to 13 °C.
Drinking window: 2024 - 2028
"Marked creamy citrus aroma. Deep and intense on the palate for a Bourgogne, real depth without unwanted fruit sweetness. Finely dry texture and surprisingly long. Punches above its weight." 16 points, Julia Harding MW (Jancis Robinson)
