Tenuta San Guido Le Difese 2022 [in bond ex vat] (6 x 75cl)

Tenuta San Guido is located on the Tyrrhenian coast in Maremma (Bolgheri). The estate is primarily known for Sassicaia, the wine that started the super-Tuscan movement. Sassicaia was the sole label produced by Tenuta San Guido until 2000, when Guidalberto was introduced. In 2002, a third label in the form of Le Difese was added to the range.

This Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese blend has taken on a slightly different identity in recent years, with Sangiovese dominating; there is 55% in the 2022 blend. A fruit-forward, suave and fantastically drinkable red. Ripe strawberry and pomegranate notes waft from the glass with spicy liquorice and clove aromas unfolding on the palate. Supple and juicy, it is just the thing for everyday Tuscan fare.

Drinking Window: 2024 - 2034

"This approachable wine is true to the style of Tenuta San Guido and truly representative of the vintage. Stylistically it is on the generous and mediterranean side with plenty of ripe fruit and wild herbs. The density of the palate is expressive of the warmth of the vintage however it is a well-balanced and ready-to drink wine.
