Launched with the 2018 vintage, Alex Zahel's annual release of “An Amphora” is an incredibly limited line of wines. Each wine is spontaneously fermented in a handcrafted 320litre handmade Italian clay amphora. The wines are vinified biodynamically according to the Demeter guidelines with minimal intervention, and no fining or filtration. This stunning Riesling spends 12 months ageing on its fine lees which softens its edges and adds body. The purity of Riesling and imparted minerality from the amphora are a perfect match.
This Riesling will pair particularly well with spicy Indian cuisine and Asian cuisine as well as shellfish and seafood.
