Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre
75cl * Organic * 14% ABV * Côtes du Rhône, France
Coudoulet is often called 'Baby Beaucastel' as the 30 hectare plot, also owned and run by Beaucastel's Perrin family, is located just east of the famous Chateau de Beaucastel. The soils here are also carpeted with galets, the region’s archetypal pudding stones, which help the grapes to ripen by retaining the daytime heat and releasing it at night. Plus, this blend mimics the family's Chateauneuf-du-Pape's recipe, with its high percentage of Mourvedre.
2021 was a fabulous year for the reds of Coudoulet de Beaucastel. Full-bodied, lush, velvety in texture, featuring notes cherry and plum, laced with stony minerality and garrigue accents. Very balanced wine with beautiful tannins. The finish has great length and is very complex.
Drinking Window: 2023 - 2028

"Red fruit/ summer fruit pudding from the Grenache on the nose with just a hint of candied orange peel. Soft and silky on the palate - a bit fuller than normal due to the extra Mourvedre, but tannins are soft and silky indicating it will be drinking on release." Team Taurus notes from a cask sample tasted on 4th October 2022
"Very appealing nose, juicy, packed full of berry fruit, leather and spice. Rich layered palate with taut tannins, good freshness and a balanced finish. Needs a bit of time – medium-bodied but attractive dark-fruit cassis-led style. Drink 2025 – 2031." 16.5/20 points. Alistair Cooper MW (JancisRobinson.com)
