From The Hebrides, cloaked in mist comes Caisteal Chamuis (“Castle Camus” for non-Gaelic speakers), a whisky that, mysteriously, is heavily peated, yet heavily smooth.
Blended from a careful selection of fine peated Single Malts distilled on the Islands of Scotland. A classic but characterful ‘Island style’ Blended Malt Scotch Whisky, bold and smoky, but with an approachable double cask finish that balances the heavy Island peat notes, it offers an easy access into the sometimes challenging world of peated whiskies.
Originally aged in refill and first-fill American Oak Hogsheads, the individual Malts that make up this whisky were then blended before a final finish in smaller 200 litre fresh Bourbon Barrels for added depth and a mellow oak spice finish. This second period of maturation adds further layers of fresh fragrant smoky oak to the original medicinal peaty aromas and a touch of sweetness and heightened vanilla overtones on the palate.
