Cabernet Sauvignon
75cl * Vegan & Sustainable * 14.5% ABV * Stellenbosch, South Africa
The Tokara winery is nestled among vineyards and olive groves on the crest of the Helshoogte Pass with sweeping views across False Bay and all the way to Table Mountain. Tokara rests on the Stellenbosch side of the Banghoek Valley, between 350m and 550m above sea level. The combination of altitude, deep, rich, decomposed granite soils and the unique aspect of the property make for exciting variability between the vineyard sites. Soil profiles are of weathered sandstone and decomposed granite, the combination lending structure, perfume and longevity to the wines produced here.
Their Cabernet Sauvignon is aged in both new French oak and older French oak barriques. The resulting wine is a deeply coloured garnet with aromas of cocoa, cassis and mulberries which offer an intense complexity with a spicy undertone of cedarwood. Bursting with sweet berry fruit, the palate presents added hints of chocolate and Chinese five spice. An intense mid-palate leads to a perfectly dry and wonderfully textured finish.
Enjoy with lightly smoked Springbok carpaccio, grilled veal chops, meaty stews or a fantastic steak. This wine will drink well now but will benefit from cellaring.
