Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Tibouren
75cl * Organic * 12% ABV * Île de Porquerolles, Provence, France
Domaine de l’Ile sits on the picturesque island of Porquerolles, just off the coast of Provence. The vines here benefit from complex island soils and fresh sea air, resulting in this quintessential Provence rosé. The estate is the latest winemaking venture from the Chanel group, which also owns top estates in Bordeaux and the Napa Valley.
This premium Provençal rosé blends typical southern French varieties Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre with a touch of Cinsault and Tibouren to add a fresh-fruit softness and a touch of earthy, savoury complexity. Vibrant and moreish, we can see this rosé drinking very well over the next 12 months and beyond given its predisposition to aging.
"Light peach skin/pink grapefruit hued with satsuma highlights. Fresh, bright and very citrus-dominated on the nose – with a pleasing fresh spring florality too and notes of blood orange alongside the wild strawberries (without which, tasted blind, this could almost be mistaken for a white). On the palate, this is, again, searingly crisp and fresh with tamarind, quince, mandarin lime zest and white grapefruit pith. Very pure, refined and elegant (more so even than previous vintages I think), this is seriously classy." 91 Points. Drinks Business, Oct 2022.
“Salmon pink. Hints of red fruit on the nose opening out on the palate with opulent strawberries and cherries and a hint of jammy ripeness with creamy peachiness. Long, fresh cranberry acidity with a mineral edge. Juicy until the finish, full of life.” Elizabeth Gabay MW – Decanter, as part of the Provence rosé: This Summer's Best Buys article.
