Chardonnay
75cl * 12.9% ABV * Burgundy, France
This sixth-generation winemaking family sells 95% of its production to private clients in Burgundy alone, so they have no need for a website or any sort of marketing. They do dabble with Facebook, not to sell their wines, but to share pictures of the harvest and the sumptuous spread they put on for pickers afterwards.
The domaine is situated in the little village of Nolay approximately 8km west of St Aubin. The 'fille' in the name is Clotilde who joined her father at the domaine in 2000 and has since then taken over from him. Almost the entire production from their estate is sold locally to a loyal list of customers, just proving what a hidden secret it is. We only have it due to our buying group's exceptional connections in Burgundy - and we keep our fingers crossed each year to get our allocation.
Just as a Burgundian white should be - honeysuckle and butter, apple skin and yellow-stone fruit. Sublime; a fantastic wine for the price.
Drink to 2028 with poultry in a cream sauce, shellfish (especially crab) or with that region's stinkiest Epoisse cheese (I think there is still a bylaw banning it from being carried on local busses... the cheese that is, not the wine!)
