Established in 1982 by Richard and Jill McIntyre, Moorooduc Estate is a small, family-run wine business that has developed an enviable reputation for complex and food-friendly wines. Their philosophy in everything is to make the most of top-quality ingredients. Intensive, hands-on care in the vineyard, with minimal use of chemicals and wild yeast fermentation, produces the best possible fruit for the wines.
This wine has been whole bunch pressed, fully barrel fermented in 2-3 year old French oak then spent 10 months in wood on lees. The result is a wine pale gold in colour with a lovely fragrant nose of yellow pear, chamomile, elderflower, blossom and a touch of honey. On the palate the pear and quince fruit characters are rich and mouth filling with lovely textural phenolics. The wine is long and full flavoured with a tangy sea spray saltiness on the finish.
A great match to a warm goats cheese salad, with a touch of quince paste.
