Liatiko

75cl * Vegan * 13.0% ABV * Crete, Greece

Established in 1966, Domaine Lyrarakis can be found in the mountainous commune of Alagni, south of the city of Heraklion, in Crete. The well-preserved 14th-century stone-presses in the fields around the winery are testament to the area’s long history of grape-growing. This Cretan rosé is made from the indigenous grape variety Liatiko, sourced from pre-phylloxera vines grown at altitudes exceeding 800m on the foothills of Mount Kedros and grown here for over a century.

Produced by winemaker Myriam Ambuzer, this is Provençal in style and consequently perfect rosé for for sipping while basking in sunshine. Soft red berry fruit aromas of raspberry, redcurrant and strawberry on the nose complement the refreshing, mineral and concentrated palate. Lingering ripe fruit and gentle acidity give a beautiful balanced finish.

Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson.com, 16.5 'Pale and pretty pink. Pretty red-cherry notes. Real intensity on the palate for early-picked grapes. So dry, textured, stony, mineral and elegant.'
