Coda di Volpe
75cl * 12.5% ABV * Campania, Italy
Legend has it that God wept when he saw a perfect patch of land that surely must have been stolen by Lucifer from heaven. Where his tears fell, the vines grew and from these vines comes this wine.
In a more verifiable account, we hear that these grapes come from ancient vines planted on the edge of the now dormant Mt Vesuvius. This 'felix land' so beloved by the Romans produces wine with a fine and intense aroma of flowers and ripe fruits, a well-balanced palate and a long finish with hints of honey and citrus.
“Rare Coda di Volpe vines grown on volcanic soil. Light gold; complex aromatics: lemon blossom, sugar almonds, tropical fruit (papaya); fresh, clean and precise, delicious, full and dry, heat on the long finish. The balance is great and there’s real poise here, accomplished winemaking”. Peter Dean (Drinks Editor for The Buyer)
