Now, when you think of Semillon, a white Bordeaux or luscious sweet dessert wine from Sauternes may pop into your head. This Semillon however, was sourced from forgotten vines that are over 50 years old, located in Río Negro in Patagonia. The grapes were harvested at perfect maturity levels into small cases of 20kg in order to maintain the integrity of each cluster. Maturation lasted for six months with 60% aged in French oak barrels and 40% in concrete eggs.
Aromas are refined, subtle and seductive, including stone fruits, fresh dough, citrus fruits, floral notes and a hint of spice. Followed on by a palate of incredible freshness and excellent concentration allied with well-judged oak.
Pair with seafood platters, fish dishes and Roquefort cheese.
