75cl * Vegan * 15% ABV * Uco Valley, Argentina
Cadus is a perfectly formed winery near Tupungato within Argentina's Uco Valley, sitting in the shadow of the Andes. This high altitude region has quickly built a reputation as the home of premium Mendozan wines and the Cadus range is no exception. Classic in style but with a very modern twist thanks to the vision of winemaker Santiago Mayorga (Young Winemaker of the Year 2017) who is quickly forging a reputation for bright, lifted expressions of wine from the region.
The combination of altitude (1300m) and rocky soils provide a platform for Malbec to excel. Intense purple in colour, the wine displays great depth of black fruits, fresh herbal notes and spice. The palate is elegant with lovely weight, crunchy black fruits and fresh acidity. There is a long finish and silky tannins. A lovely, comforting fireside wine or paired with roast lamb, or keep it traditional with Argentinean "empanadas".
