For the third consecutive year, Babylonstoren’s Mourvèdre Rosé is the official rosé of the iconic RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2023, bringing a taste of the South African farm and gardens to the world’s greatest gardening event. The wine was harvested and bottled a few weeks before the show, which means visitors who attend the Chelsea Flower Show were the first to sip on the 2023 vintage!
Located in the premier wine-growing region of South Africa’s Cape Winelands and set against the backdrop of the scenic Simonsberg Mountain, Babylonstoren has become a popular destination for visitors from around the world. Garden and fine food aficionados may well have heard about as it has the most stunning kitchen, magnificent formal medicinal and flower gardens, as well as a farm shop selling estate-pressed olive oil.
Rooted in the classic dry Provençal style with a delicately fruity flavour profile, this dry and elegant wine embodies flowers, gardens and the great outdoors, it blooms with delicious raspberries and rose petals on the nose. Following minimal skin contact, fermentation happened in stainless steel tanks for three weeks with one month ageing on the fine lees. Babylonstoren Mourvèdre Rosé 2023 has notes of rosewater, creamy rhubarb and pomegranate, rounded off with a refreshing minerality and a subtle punch of acidity.
Elegant and unpretentious with great gastronomic appeal, drink alongside BBQ prawns and a crisp summer salad drizzled in dressing, but also ideal for sipping in the garden on a sunny day.
