Chardonnay
75cl * 13.0% ABV * Burgundy, France
The Greffet estate is a small, six-hectare plot in the Maconnais region at the foot of Burgundy. The winery is modern, but the winemaking is traditional, using a mixture of old oak foudres and barrels to ferment fruit from 45-year-old vines.
Rich and powerful, even in its youth, with plenty of baked-apple fruit character and a buttery finish, and developing notes of honey and gunflint as it ages. Chardonnay at its rich, rounded, complex best. The winemaker recommends it with frogs' legs in a garlic and parsley sauce... each to their own.
